Is remembered especially for his important and decisive action in the so-called Revolution of Restorers, whose preparation was held, with the strong support of the local people.
No doubt influenced a lot about Don Juan Manuel, but not enough want some historians, if we consider the personality traits of her husband. Among the witnesses can be cited for respect of that influence is a letter Mendeville Mariquita Sánchez de Don Juan Manuel, in response to another of the dictator that was "talkative and flirty Frenchwoman." Said Dona Mariquita
"I do not want to leave you in doubt if you wrote a French or an American. I'll tell you that since I've joined a Frenchman I have served my country with even more zeal and enthusiasm, and I will always the same way, except be put in opposition of France, since in that case I will be French, because my husband is French and is at the service of their nation. You who put in the stocks to Encarnacion if not decorated with your currency, you must pass more only follow your doctrine, but the rules of honor and duty. What would you do if you do Incarnation unit? I know what you would do. "
Encarnación Ezcurra, the "heroine of the Federation", died in Buenos Aires on October 19, 1838. Rosas Funeral captain general ordered, which included a "retreat to the quiet funeral in front of the temple of our Seraphic Father San Francisco." ENTREVISTA A JUAN MANUEL DE ROSAS y URIBE

Guerrero Ramon Vargas, a bold young Chilean, decides to visit Rosas, who has heard bad:
"In the village of Portwood, located 3 miles from the port of Southampon, I went accompanied by a Catholic priest. After crossing a muddy pasture, I reached a small house, or rather a ranch.
"(...) We passed several pieces, and if these little attention was the simplicity and cleanliness. We got to the bedroom, where cabinets were filled with books, papers scattered around the table, several packages and luggage that contained documents , I later learned, a wide bed, three chairs, a cage with a parrot, a fireplace with a clock above and several other insignificant objects "
When Don Juan Manuel leaves his homeland, (See Report Gore the night of Caseros, involves not money but the documentation boxes that trust, may defend the liberal view of history that discounts are picking on who put in threatening political and economic project.
"I was watching the title of some works, when I heard footsteps, instantly became a man before whom trembled: tall, strong, agile, much bent despite having only 62 years, from forehead, completely bald, nose something pronounced, lips drawn forward anything without sideburns or mustache, and it seemed that he had not shaved in 5 or 6 days. I was with a wool poncho Argentine, belted gaucho of the pampas, silver spurs with large shields, and very ordinary shoes.
"(...) This extraordinary man living entirely alone, never allowed to see him, even his daughter Doña Manuela Rosas, who can only visit once a year and do not understand English, who has not learned in 13 years of residence in England.
"If an American manages to disturb his retirement, told him (as he did with me) his intimate feelings, engulfed in their misfortunes, reproaches his ingratitude South American republics, and recalling its domination over the money it compresses the heart, tears are rolling down her cheeks, and continues speaking in an agitated voice, as I myself witnessed.
"I think the first words to me were these: 'Tell me his fellow South Americans who has seen Rosas'
"(...) When talking about their daily concerns lamented their poverty, adding that worked hard, getting up at seven in the morning to go riding and his little hijuela, returning at noon for lunch and a back to work until five in the afternoon, it was time for my visit. After dinner, it is to rub on the legs, and then begins to write in pencil, which has a lot very well arranged and cut by her maid, in order not to waste time. Your letter is very clear and it may be said, elegant. After 62 years of age does not need glasses, and his view is superior.
"(...) Rosas told me that the only friend who had been Lord Palmerston (British Prime Minister who was in 1848 when peace was signed between the two countries), whose body the English government offered him a pension, they rejected as unfit for work, and unworthy begging bread from a foreign country. He said 'This event always be grateful, and more keeping in mind the neglect that I have left the American republics, these ungrateful for whose union work Therefore, a union that would have prevented the acts committed by Spain, which is not alone in their companies, and a union that would have prevented the situation you are in Paraguay.
"(...) While browsing the will, I saw a sheet of figures and asked him much was his property. Ay! Exclaimed, four times my money has been confiscated, which can not assess. Suffice it to say to you that the government of Buenos Aires took me three hundred thousand head of cattle pra allocate them in his army. My grandchildren English as they are, they might get a quarter once I desconfisquen my property '
"Leaving aside the will proceeded: 'Upon leaving the republic of Silver took no assets, the documents I brought with me a thousand times more valuable. And to a suitcase, opened it and started taking some packages, of which there were many very well conditioned, and he said: "Yesterday there was only completed to fix these papers, in order to send them to London to a safe house. will not happen to burn if they stay here '(1)
(...) In this state of the conversation look at my watch and saw that my visit had lasted from five and ten minutes to six and twenty. Resolved to my regret, farewell, considering the critical situation of my fellow not understand a word of Spanish. When he saw our move to go Rosas, told us: 'Wait until I make them put the car to leave them at the station. "doing it again and use the bell and ordered the servant to warn when it was ready.

"When I left we took the candle and light up the stairs, and here he shook my hand firmly. So let the man who has made the greatest impression on me, the man whose past events represent him as the beast that has done more damage to the world Colon, the man who, according to many of his countrymen, has eclipsed the crimes of Nero, which now lies, as he says, deserted by friends, stateless and penniless, drawing attention for his charity, his constancy and the sacrifice that has been imposed, which some attribute to purge their crimes "
And the young visitor concluded: "Although it is weak, I do not hate the dreaded name of Rosas and sympathize with his present misfortune"
"My introducer priest spoke very highly of me that character as a man pintándomelo Catholic charitable and generous. For atestiguármelo told me that as the pews in very poor condition made them change, placing a very comfortable, having also built a gallery extremely valuable.
"(...) The last I saw of Rosas was what he calls chariot was kind of a cart without a tent, where only one person could be the shooter. In the sent for their supplies and in case of need it it used to go to the city.
(1) Roses suspicions were well founded. Efectivamete, Alberdi refers to this in a letter to Terrero: knowing the fire at the farm of Rosas, Terrero writes to say that "fear is the work of the enemies of Rosas to get rid of his papers" and 8 August, 1863, from Caen ... "The real cause of General Rosas is successful and respected even in those most vulnerable points, by their enemies, and he is charged criminally ?"..." Then he wonders why he has been indicted Roses ... "the only one with decent life and have a reserve full of decency and honor."

STATE TERRORISM

The centralist government of Buenos Aires did not simply replace the provincial governments and crush it was devoted to systematically wipe out political opponents, suspected and even the poor gauchos.
Sarmiento was a terrorist state, and use hatred Mitre Sarmiento: "We Sarmiento jury that not one has to be alive" (Mitre in 1852).
In 1856, in the fields of Villamayor, Mitre hae to shoot the famous army general Jerome Costa and all his staff officers and NCOs in number 126, who had surrendered. And then he says represent the "civilization"
"I have hatred for the popular barbarism ... The mob and the gaucho town is hostile to us ... While there will be a chiripá citizens, are they the masses the only source of power and legitimacy?. The poncho, the chiripá and the ranch are from the wild and form a division between the city and the people educated, causing Christians ... You will have to degrade the glory of the Republic established in all the power of the educated class annihilating the uprising of the masses " . MATE COCIDO

MATE COCIDO (Segundo David Peralta)

Segundo David Peralta had a small scar on his head that gave him his nickname. He was born in Tucumán but the most intense of his life occurred in the Chaco.
He worked in a printing press, was planned worship and beatings of the detail. He devoted himself to steal from companies such as Bunge & Born, Dreyfus and La Forest, companies that provided large sums of money to the Gendarmerie to end their raids.
Sewn Mate, the villain of the poor, wrote some notes in the journal now in which justified their theft, explaining that the real thieves were exploiting the worker and the Argentine soil. His reputation as a thief with a conscience grew in Buenos Aires.
Like Vairoletto, problems with the police is emphasized because of a woman: Sewn Mate had a girlfriend who also flirted with an agent and that deepened the animosity police. Vairoletto well as a buddy sold it. It was the time of the famous episode of the season Berthet, in 1939. It was the end of his career went very wounded in the ambush, but managed to escape and was left wrapped in mystery. His body was never found.
According to historian Hugo Chumbita, Sewing Mate Vairoletto and met in the capital: it was in a brothel in barracks or in a Masonic temple in San Telmo. Two scenarios appropriate to the context of an era which, not coincidentally, Arlt took one of his most acute chroniclers. !

BANDIDOS RURALES

Juan Bautista Vairoleto part of history and myths polulares.

Born in Santa Fe, lived in La Pampa. It was outlaw pursued by the police. It was established in Alvear, Mendoza. Married with two daughters Telma Cevallos.
On September 14, 1941, surrounded by police after shooting and nurtured before being delivered, kills himself to avoid falling prey.
... "John committed suicide. Do not kill him, he committed suicide. I got out of bed after him, protecting the girls. I see the shot stick and begins to fall back, leans against the wall and falls to the floor. Then the police came and shot him dead on the floor ... " (Ceballos Telma story).
Part of the mythology of the poor, who see it as "protector."
Short biography
Son of an Italian immigrant couple, Juan Bautista Vairoleto was the second of six children. Born in Santa Fe on November 11, 1894. His family settled in the province of La Pampa, in Castex covering wheat belt and Monte Nievas.
As a child, his family settled in Cologne Castex, a village in La Pampa.Parte of his youth was spent in the brothels, where he met the first anarchists. There he fell in love with a woman, who was also wooed by a policeman named Elias Farache.

He was charged with murder and imprisoned until 1921. He moved for hazardous environments such as gambling houses and brothels. Highwayman was holding police shootings Castex and other towns of La Pampa and neighboring provinces. He was considered the avenger of the sufferings of his friends and his figure of justice outside the law makes it popular again, becoming a myth.
People helped him to flee, and when he took refuge in a place he did get messages to prevent it, gave him food, shelter and care. As befits the legend, stole from the rich and helped the poor, distributing the proceeds among his friends, patrons and people in need.
In the 1930s, I was responsible for any assault or death occurring, but it seemed a ghost chasing police with no results. In the early forties is organized persecution ready to end it. He got caught and killed him on the morning of September 14, 1941, General Alvear, Mendoza.
The veiled in the Democratic Caucus of the town. His funeral was attended by thousands of people coming from La Pampa. He is buried in the cemetery of the town where he died in a small mausoleum built by contributions from the faithful. Men and women attend offerings of flowers, crucifixes, plaques and other objects to ask him to protect their families, work, health, love, etc..
Some devotees walk on their knees the distance between the entrance to the cemetery and the grave. Even today, some of Pampa boast of his grandparents had "protected" to remind Vairoleto and anecdotes related to the gaucho.
Vairoleto was the last "gaucho sums" which marks the end of an era. He died at the dawn of a new Argentina with industries, trade unions and predominantly urban life in which for a long time, the phenomenon was repeated.
The stories of "Old Acosta"
(Compiled by LG)
"The old Acosta", an old settler of the west pampas of "Acha area."
Paisano rogue back in 1970 had nearly eighty years. I remember as a kind of reincarnation of the "Old Vizcacha"

Old filled Camándulas
with a gasket to bull
was always on Moor
I do not know who got tangled,
with legs like a parrot
stirrup between the toes.

At night, in the countryside between mate and mate sprang from the mouth of the civilian, stories and anecdotes from his past in the mountains, "by Acha area."
/
Claimed to have been "friend" of Vairoleto, who had visited "houses" on several occasions, and who often have protected under his humble roof.

On several occasions, I referred to several episodes that are part of the story or the legend of Vairoleto. According to Don Acosta, gaucho life in elevation, Vairoleto had several buddies and had several horses, including some of their choice, used to run shined, to come "at birdie," Vairoleto, and in which there was always a message " winch ... "So fucking could."
According to Acosta told me on one occasion Vairoleto left at his mother one of her favorite horses. A sergeant of the "polecía" which pursued him, came to the house of the mother of John the Baptist, who wanted to "get" the whereabouts of Vairoleto. Given the negative, was mistreated by the "polecía", who is also in revenge for the "grudge" that the gaucho had risen, with an "iron" hot burned his eyes to the poor animal. No missed opportunity for Vairoleto will take revenge, punishing the wild done.

One night there was the "Sgt polecía" with several "hooks" in a bowling alley on the outskirts of Acha pausing in the chase, having drinks and trying to get information on the whereabouts of Vairoleto, when in the door of the bar presented "well mounted, the Vairoleto mesmo", which saw the "polecía" retires "to gallop." The sergeant in charge "to the Milice" in pursuit, keeping himself a sergeant in the bowling alley, celebrating the imminent capture.

But Vairoleto not fire, tied the reins to the horse clines, "gets off" on the mountain, and sends the game after a riderless horse. After a while just to the surprise of "polecía" that celebrated in advance, you are presented Vairoleto at the store ... to take his revenge.

ROSAS , SARMIENTO y EL BICENTENARIO

CIVILIZACION Y BARBARIE

Buenos Aires. 1899)

The barbarity was Argentina

This barbarism, so maligned by historians, was the genuine fruit of our territory and our character. It was not a guerrilla army fighting for independence in the interior, and almost all the leaders that the captain had done his apprenticeship in the war against the royalists. There were more similarities between Rosas and Facundo pampa or between mountain and that between Mr. Rivadavia or Mr. Garcia and the country they wanted to govern. La Barbarie, being gaucho, and as he rode was in Argentina, was ours. She had not thought of handing over sovereignty of the country to a European dynasty. In contrast, defended it. His work bloody was the indispensable complement of the Revolution, as Argentina drew blood from the government and the concept of nationality, giving more solid basis for the work of the constituents.

Argentina civilization

Some say that Rosas was the barbarism against civilization represented by its selected enemies, but this is to give a controversial phrase in its time value to a range of scientific truth that its authors did not intend for her when the fight was over . Rosas represented the sentiment of the country can not be denied because it was his membership of Buenos Aires and the provinces of the leaders and peoples of the bourgeoisie and the people, the Indians and gauchos, the Many freed slaves and white Europeans. In twenty years failed to overthrow his enemies, before it consolidated with their mistakes. If Rose was the barbarism, savagery was all the country. How is it then that while refugees in Montevideo unit allied with the king of France and received money from his chancellery, Lamartine Republicans decried the alliance and the policy of aggression against an independent republic. San Martín Rosas then sent the sword of Maipú.
Diplomatic agents were Alvear and Guido Rosas, heroes of independence. López author of the national anthem, and Anchorena, who signed the minutes of Tucumán, were friends of his. From the bowels of the left rosismo Urquiza, the winner of Caseros. From it came the leaders who signed the Agreement of San Nicolas, and men and Velez Sarsfield Irigoyen who had frequented the court of Palermo and then collaborated with its lights in the constitutional organization. Then, since in that system, certainly barbaric, Rose had some germs of civilization. Which one civilization? Argentina civilization, not French, not British, who tried to blockade imposed by the guerrillas or the mercenary legions cosmopolitans, nor the other, that unit utopians dreamed create through imaginary constitutions.

"In the name of freedom and serving claims, our liberal, Mitre, Sarmiento y Cia., Have established a Turkish despotism in history, politics, abstract, in legend, in the biography of the Argentine people. On the revolution May, the war of independence, about his battles on his wars they have a Koran, which is law to accept, believe, profess, on pain of excommunication for the crime of barbarity and leadership "(Juan Bautista Alberdi. Posthumous Writings. Essays on society, men and things in South America. Buenos Aires. 1899)

BICENTENARIO DE LA PATRIA

EN EL AÑO Y MES DEL BICENTENARIO DE LA PATRIA
Hay hombres que de su cencia
tienen la cabeza llena,
hay sabios de todas menas,
más digo sin ser muy ducho
es mejor que aprender mucho
el aprender cosas buenas.

Es la memoria un gran don
Cualidad muy meritoria
y aquellos que en esta historia
sospechen que les doy palo
sepan que olvidar lo malo
también es tener memoria.

Mas naides se crea ofendido
pues a ninguno incomodo

Ediciones Continente. Bs.As. 2004)

IN THE YEAR AND MONTH OF THE BICENTENNIAL OF THE NATION

Some men of his rescence
their heads are full,
There are wise men of all ores,
I say without being more versed
It is better to learn a lot
to learn good things.

Memory is a great gift
meritorious quality
and those who in this story
I suspect that they stick
know that forgetting evil
also have a memory.

But establishing offended Naiden
uncomfortable for any
and if I think in this way
by finding appropriate
is not to bad either
But for good.

José Hernández - Martín Fierro

The truth always wins
"The day that are disappearing shadows only truths that can not fail to know how much they want to hide in the dark torrent of injustice" (Juan Manuel de Rosas. 1857)

HISTORY
The inclination for historical studies is the first to appear on peoples struggling for their freedom. Priority is not accidental, since the nations drink in their own history the foundations of his itinerary. "History is a noble instructor - has written Savigny - and only through it can be kept alive contact with the primitive life of the people. The loss of this connection deprive the country of the best part of his spiritual life. "
The patriotism of the great periods emancipation - as the current case of Argentina - not born of isolated consciousness, but is the result of a whole generation, although its members are unknown, and whose work, in turn, is the effect of crowded state of the very conscience of the community.

The systematic and critical study of the history is but one symptom of this clarification and unification of national life, conscious of itself, that scatter in the deepest and anonymous people. (Hernández Arregui, Juan José - The formation of national consciousness. P.41. Peña Lillo. Ediciones Continente. Buenos Aires 2004)

One way of concealing the historical truth of who abuse our liberal, is to write history. We have hundreds of texts, manuals and treatises on history, all cut on the same academic mold, who are mocked and prevarication of the Academy. Stories of people absent, false oppositions and trampling the deep conflict, so it numbs the conscience of Argentines in the certainty that lack a personal and unmistakable universal destiny. Magisterium of arbitrary signs trust their efficiency mechanical phenomenon of repetition: patriotic government, anarchy, tyranny, national organization. And a great synthesis: either civilization or barbarism. (Garcia de Mello, Atilio .- Process Argentine liberalism. "P.10. Theoría.1964 Editions)
