MATE COCIDO (Segundo David Peralta)


Segundo David Peralta tenía una pequeña cicatriz en la cabeza que le dio su alias. Había nacido en Tucumán pero la parte más intensa de su vida ocurrió en el Chaco.
Trabajó en una imprenta, era culto y planificaba sus golpes al detalle. Se dedicó a robar a firmas como Bunge & Born, Dreyfus y La Forestal, empresas que aportaban grandes sumas de dinero a la Gendarmería para dar fin a sus correrías.
Mate Cosido, el bandido de los pobres, escribió algunas notas en la revista Ahora en las cuales justificaba sus robos, explicando que los verdaderos ladrones eran los que explotaban al trabajador y al suelo argentino. Su fama de ladrón con conciencia iba creciendo en Buenos Aires.
Igual que Vairoletto, sus problemas con la policía se acentuaron por culpa de una mujer: Mate Cosido tuvo una novia que también coquetaba con un agente y eso profundizó la inquina policial. Igual que a Vairoletto, un compinche lo vendió. Fue cuando ocurrió el famoso episodio de la estación Berthet, en 1939. Era el fin de su carrera: salió muy herido de la emboscada, pero logró escapar y se dejó envolver por el misterio. Su cadáver nunca apareció.
Según el historiador Hugo Chumbita, Vairoletto y Mate Cosido se conocieron en la Capital: fue en un prostíbulo de Barracas o en un templo masónico de San Telmo. Dos escenarios apropiados para el marco de una época que, no casualmente, tuvo en Arlt a uno de sus más agudos cronistas. !

Segundo David Peralta had a small scar on his head that gave him his nickname. He was born in Tucumán but the most intense of his life occurred in the Chaco.
